Meet The Crew
Growing up in PNG and fishing around the waters of Bouganville Island since he was a young boy set the stage for Captain Corey Hard’s life-long love of fishing and being on the water. He has been written about in multiple fishing magazines for being one of the most successful and passionate black marlin fishermen. After devoting his life to game fishing Corey has both pride and passion for the Australian fishing industry and marine environment.
Jay has loved fishing as long as he can remember. Having grown up with a father as a lobster fisherman on the Central Coast in New South Wales, he developed a passion for fishing early in life, he has since been involved in multiple tournament wins and his love and dedication to game fishing is second to none. He started working with Hardcore in 2015 and is now a key member of the Hardcore team.
Jack grew up on the central coast of New South Wales, he got the fishing bug early on
fishing alongside his father on their family game boat.
He has fished in New Zealand and Fiji but his dream has always been to fish the Great
Barrier Reef heavy tackle seasons. His first season on the Great Barrier Reef was in 2018
and he was hooked for life!
2020 will be the first season fishing with the Hardcore Team and we can’t wait to have him
The Sheriff is a 40ft classic wooden game boat, built by legendary Innisfail boat builder, Frank Woodnutt. Launched in 1972 as Kanahoee, this beautiful boat has had more names than a serial bride, Guilder 111, Betelguise, Reef Life and The Sheriff. Current owners, Cairns based Corey and Rani Hard have kept the name The Sheriff and operate Hardcore Charters, with Corey running the boat and Rani arranging the bookings.
The Sheriff is in survey for charter work and is one of the biggest volume 40ft game boats in the country. Her hull design is typical of Frank Woodnutt’s boats, a very fine entry, deep Vee’d forward sections with little bow flare, stretching back to a shallow deadrise at the stern. This design makes for a soft, dry ride, with very good manoeuvring, particularly when backing down on fish.
The previous owners of The Sheriff extensively refurbished the boat, but in doing so, maintained its heritage aspects and kept it in excellent condition. Further refurbishment has taken place and The Sheriff now has the latest Furuno electronics and air conditioning.
When you fish or relax on The Sherriff, you are doing it in style and comfort, combined with a sense of history.
